Docta Kevin at the top of the 10th RFI Talents du Rire 2025 Prize in Abidjan
Welcomed triumphantly at Douala airport this Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Docta Kevin, recent winner of the prestigious RFI Talents du Rire Prize, was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The gospel comedian, returning from Abidjan, for the event nicknamed "Capital of Laughter", landed around 7 a.m., visibly moved by the warmth of the welcome. When he got off the plane, a delegation including his team from the Gospel Comedy Club, the Fadiese Academy, representatives of “Mercredi en Montagne” and many fans were waiting for him. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by banners, flowers and t-shirts in the colors of the Gospel Comedy Club, creating an atmosphere which did not fail to attract the attention of other travelers.
"I did not expect such a welcome. It touches me deeply to see that my work is appreciated at its true value,"
confided the artist, still radiant with his success.
This productive two-day stay in Ivory Coast during which the Cameroonian comedian participated in the most important humorous distinction ceremony on the African continent, organized at the Palais de la Culture in Abidjan, gave him significant recognition from the RFI Talents du Rire.
"This distinction is the fruit of hard work and a journey sown of pitfalls. I dedicate it to the body of Christ and to my team at the Gospel Comedy Club which firmly believes in gospel humor as a vector of social change."
With this international recognition, Docta Kevin does not intend to stop there. Several projects are already planned, including a national tour with shows in Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Garoua and other cities.
"This prize is a springboard, not an end goal. I am keen to share this victory with Cameroonian youth and to show that our talents can shine beyond our borders,"
he declared with conviction.
This distinction is seen as a symbol of national pride, highlighting the countless artistic talents present in Cameroon in various fields. Victory in the RFI Talents du Rire competition provides an exceptional showcase for Cameroon's rich cultural heritage and consolidates the country's position on the African cultural scene.
An official reception in honor of the winner is planned soon. For more information and photos of the reception, stay tuned to Camfaith.
