Sung Easter, 22nd Edition: The Duala Inter Choir puts on a masterful and spiritual show at the Diamond cliff!
The 22nd edition of “Pâques Chantées,” the must-see musical event organized by the renowned Duala Inter Choir, took place amid indescribable enthusiasm. Much more than just a concert, it was a truly immersive spectacle that transported the audience, blending praise, worship, and high-caliber artistic performances to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
Meticulous organization for perfect harmony
From the very first notes, the tone was set. The synergy between the choir, the orchestra, and the audience created an electric atmosphere, perfect for celebration. This success was built on rigorous preparation, as Laura Langmi, President of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: “ The venue, the music, the decorations… everyone pitched in. It was beautiful; everyone was fully engaged: the technical staff, the choir members, and the audience, who were extremely active.”
This sense of accomplishment is shared by the entire leadership team. Christian Lobonana, Secretary of the choir, made no secret of his pride at the scale of the event: “It’s a feeling of complete satisfaction. It’s important to remember that this is a show, not just a concert.” This technical and artistic ambition was confirmed by Technical Director Paguel Kwati, who was moved to see just how much the audience was swept up in the rhythm of the performances.
Distinguished guests and a contagious spiritual atmosphere
One of the highlights of this 22nd edition was undoubtedly the performance by GaëllaJes, a former choir member who has become a guest artist. With her new song “Il va résoudre,” featuring modern Benskin sounds, and her classic “Yesu Ko AM,” she literally set the hall ablaze: “I saw the glory of God shining and bursting forth in this hall. Benskin really set the place on fire! The praise and hymns were absolutely wonderful.”
But beyond the vocal and stage performance, it was the profound message of the Gospel that touched people’s hearts. Father Noël, pastor of the Toussaint de Soboum Parish, praised this evangelistic initiative: “It’s always a great joy to see people proclaiming the Gospel through song. When the quality is high, it’s even better. We mustn’t limit ourselves to singing; we must also live out what we’ve sung.”
A Successful Transition and Upcoming Events
The presence and enthusiasm of former members attest to the longevity and evolution of the Duala Inter Choir. “I’m glad to see that things have moved to a whole new level,” said a former tenor with the group, praising the energy passed on to the new generation. Among the audience, the feedback was unanimous: extraordinary energy, smiling faces, and a captivated crowd.
As the lights dim on this memorable event, all eyes are already turned toward the future. Bertin Nandop, the choir director, made a point of thanking the audience while setting the tone for what’s to come: “The Lord is wonderful—He who conquered death so that we might have life. We invite you now to our upcoming events: in December, and of course, next year for the 23rd edition of Pâques Chantées.”
The date is set. The Duala Inter Choir has proven, once again, that it remains a key player in choral and spiritual music, capable of transforming a message of faith into an unforgettable artistic experience.
