May your whole being be holy
Pastor
May your whole being be holy and....
1 Thessalonians 5:23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole being, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!
God created us to be holy and prosperous in all respects and to be in good health, but sin disrupts the order of things:
1) Material prosperity trumps prosperity of the soul!
2) Illness disrupts good health!
3) sin leads your whole being to eternal perdition
So what's left?
Matthew 10:28 Do not fear those who kill the body and cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy soul and body in hell.
He has no more hope, when he has only the body (the flesh) which nourishes itself, but which is never satisfied!
There is no more hope when your health no longer depends on any remedy [*]
But even more serious, when your entire being is lost eternally!
[*]but from God alone
The Bible exhorts you out of love to flee sin and those lusts that debase your life!
1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I exhort you, as strangers and sojourners on earth, to abstain from carnal lusts which wage war against the soul
What God wishes for you.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish that you may prosper in all respects and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.
What to do?
3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.
You must walk in the truth, that is, no longer accept the lie of the devil, who tells you that life on earth is excellent without God!
That you can be prosperous, rich, and loved, without God being the author of your happiness!
The devil will one day take back everything he gave you! This is why Jesus himself resisted the devil, and he fled, because Jesus loved his Father, and he refused false happiness, ephemeral success, the glory offered by the devil, the enemy of our soul!
Take stock of your life!
James 4:9 Feel your misery; be in mourning and tears; May your laughter turn to mourning, and your joy to sadness.
Here it is a question of examining ourselves and changing our worldly joy into tears of repentance and mourning, that is to say putting to death our self, our pride, and the old life into a new life with Jesus who will make you a new creature and will make you know true happiness, deep peace and above all that you be ready one day that only God knows to join the wonderful place that Jesus has prepared for you!
Be blessed
